Prince Abimbola Olashore Speaks on CSR

On Thursday 19th September 2019, AS+A Communications Limited; a communication, public relations and event management company, organized the 2019 CSR forum exhibition and awards, themed: “The Nexus between the public and private sectors in CSR”.

The event was held at the Radisson Blu Hotel on Victoria Island and had in attendance a representative of the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the chairman of the Honeywell group, Oba Otudeko, The Chairman of Olashore International School, Prince Abimbola Olashore, President of the Lagos Chamber of commerce and Industry Mr Babatunde Paul Ruwase,  Former deputy governor of Lagos State, HE, Alhaja Sinat Ojikutu, The Elegushi of Ikate Kingdom; HRM Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi, Kusenla 3rd, and a host of other dignitaries.

The Chairman, Olashore International School, Prince Abimbola Olashore was a speaker at the event and he carefully and laconically dissected CSR in the private sector, focusing on “social Investments” and using the immense works the School has done in her community and beyond as a point of reference.

In his words; to really make an impact, is not just about being generous, or doing CSR, to me it’s about social investment policies and investments designed to strengthen people skills and capabilities and support  them to fully participate in social life, without direct financial benefits to the company.  Social investment is a form of CSR.”

He also mentioned that the school takes extra effort in instilling the “give back” mentality into the students and this has led to the students both past and present volunteering in environments they find themselves. “It’s not just about educating kids, it’s about making sure the kids can make an impact in their world. In our study, we discovered that education is not just about academics but how to produce creative people that can change the world , people who would be socially conscious and give back to their environment.  This birthed the Olashore leadership program 10 years ago.”

He finally left us with a quote:

“ If your generosity does not translate into improving lives, then you have done nothing”.
